St George’s Protest
Gordon Marsden was today joined by local supporters protesting against the closure and the apparent demolition of St George’s Swimming Pool.
Gordon commented “It is great that so many people support the fight against the closure and demolition of St George’s Swimming Pool. Councillor Tony Williams responsible for Communities and Culture has failed to respond to my original letter sent in September to answer my questions and concerns about the closure.”
“There has been no response to the new options that I recommended following discussions with local residents and swimming groups who used the pool. The Government has made £60million available for projects designed to modernise local swimming pools. It seems the Tory Council would rather send in the demolition squad than answer the local community’s and my own questions and concerns about the pool.”
