Gordon Welcomes Traffic Calming Measures
Gordon is pleased to announce that his campaign to bring traffic calming measures to the Mereside estate has been a success. The campaign focused on Branstree Road which has been the centre of many problems for local families with certain motorists using the street as a rat run. The dangers of the area were vigorously highlighted by Gordon’s campaign to protect pedestrians and safe motorists that live in the area.
The Council have now been forced to take the action required to protect local residents and have announced that speed humps will be introduced where possible and the entire Mereside estate will become a 20mph zone. These measures will slow down speeding motorists that are a nuisance to the local area and will also discourage drivers who have no purpose in driving through the estate, making them take a different route.
Gordon has also been informed by the Head of Transportation at the Council that the plans to change the traffic regulations on the Mereside estate will be up for alteration if any residents want to put forward their views. The plans will be finalised by the end of October and will be implemented by early 2010. Gordon is happy that his campaigning has highlighted the needs of local residents and intends to continue to fight for the needs of his constituents in any way he can.
