Gordon Urges Young People To Take Up Free Tickets

Blackpool South MP Gordon Marsden is encouraging young people locally to take advantage of the Government’s initiative to receive free theatre tickets, in the “A Night Less Ordinary” scheme. The Blackpool Grand Theatre is one of the participants in the national scheme which in its first quarter saw 150 young people between 16 and 25 get free tickets.

Mr Marsden commented “This scheme is an excellent idea. Given the strength of performing arts in Blackpool’s schools, colleges and other youth organisations, this scheme is a particularly welcome initiative for us. It gives young people the opportunity to see productions for free at the Grand, some of whom may have never visited the theatre before.  I want to urge many more young people locally to take advantage of it.”

“A Night Less Ordinary” is a £2.5million scheme launched by the government in February 2009 allowing young people between the age of 16 and 26 free theatre tickets.
