Gordon Raises Concerns About Jobs and Growth
Gordon Marsden has quizzed the Government in Parliament over policies on economic growth and employment in the North West.
Gordon who is also Shadow Minister covering economic policy for the English regions said, “I intend to work with the Government to ensure the best polices are going forward to increase growth and provide jobs for the people in the North West, particularly young people where figures need to improve.”
“The dismantlement of the North West Development Agency has not helped the situation in the region. The Agency helped fund Blackpool’s new tramway, Tower Headland and the funding package which allowed the Council to acquire and refurbish the Tower and Winter Gardens – and other regional agencies – that had left the English regions ‘stagnant in growth’ over the past nine months.”
“There are various initiatives I would like to see the Government consider to help the economy particularly tax breaks for small firms that take on extra workers and bringing forward investment on new building projects.”
