Gordon Praises Anti-Racism Campaign

BLACKPOOL MP PRAISES THE DAILY MIRROR AND SEARCHLIGHT’S ANIT-RACISM CAMPAIGN

Blackpool South MP Gordon Marsden has backed a Parliamentary motion congratulating the Daily Mirror and Searchlight for their Hope not Hate nationwide tour exposing the bigotry of the BNP.

This campaign has seen thousands of people throughout Britain come together and celebrate the diversity in Britain’s communities together with many celebrities including actors from Coronation Street, The Bill and Hollyoaks, Amir Khan, Corinne Bailey Rae, The Proclaimers, Sugababes and UB40 just to name a few.

Mr Marsden said, ‘This campaign bus tour which has taken place over 14 days and travelled 1,700 miles voiced the vital message that there is no place for racism in our society. It brings to light the true nature of the BNP at a time when the BNP are standing for more council seats than ever before, including several candidates in Blackpool. I hope the Daily Mirror and Searchlight’s campaign will open people’s eyes to the BNP’s true agenda’.

‘The BNP are a group of extremists who aim to cause division and hatred in towns such as Blackpool. May 3 gives Blackpool’s voters an opportunity to support mainstream political parties who support tolerant and diverse communities and show the BNP there is no place for prejudice, discrimination and bigotry in Britain today’.
