Gordon Holding Parliamentary Debate On ATOS

Gordon has secured a Parliamentary debate on the effect of new ATOS assessments on disabled people in Blackpool South. The debate will take place at 4:30pm on Wednesday 5th September 2012 in Westminster Hall and may be televised on BBC Parliament.

As reported in the Gazette on Tuesday 4th August 2012 by Jacqui Morley:

‘The new system of assessing disabled people has led to many people in Blackpool concerned about the future of their Personal Independence Payments. ATOS which is also sponsoring the Paralympics has also taken on the baton of judging whether people are entitled to their benefits or not.’

‘A number of people are suffering in Blackpool and Gordon along with his staff has seen a major rise in the number of cases of people losing their Employment Support Allowance.’

Gordon will be taking this up in his Parliamentary debate directly with the DWP Minister who will have to respond specifically to it.

If you are disabled and are having any problems in relation to your benefits please to not hesitate to contact Gordon's office on 01253 344143.
