Gordon Backs The Bids
Gordon today visited Highfield Humanities College, picking up their 657 name-strong petition urging Michael Gove to give the go-ahead to their BSF plans. Gordon will deliver the petition personally to the Department of Education on Monday Morning.
While at the school, Gordon met with pupils and headteacher Ian Evans and also spoke to journalists from Granada News about the school's case for BSF money
Speaking after his visit, Gordon said 'I give my complete backing to Highfield's BSF bid. The plans would transform the College to the benefit of not only their students but the wider community as a whole. I have already written to Michael Gove this week, urging him to give the plans the green light, and will personally deliver the petition given to me today by pupils to the Department of Education on Monday Morning.
Gordon has also written a letter of support for St. Mary's Catholic College's BSF. 'I was also happy to lend my support to St. Mary's bid. While it may no longer be a part of my constituency, many of the pupils attending the school live in Blackpool South so the bid's importance is relevant across the town.'
