Gordon Backs National Strategy for MND
Gordon has given his backing to the National strategy for Motor Neurone Disease, after signing a Parliamentary motion on the subject. He also attended a reception in Parliament last week in support of the strategy, where he met representatives of the Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde branch.
Speaking after the event, Gordon commented 'I was more than happy to give my backing to the national strategy for MND, especially given the cruel nature of the disease and the challenges it poses for carers. It is vital we do all we can to push forward with the implementation of the National Service Framework for Long Term Neurological conditions, to improve the co-ordination and effectiveness of Health and Social Care services provided.
It was good to see Gwynneth and her colleagues from the Blackpool branch of the Association at the reception. Having attended their AGM earlier this year and from my previous correspondence with them, I know all the hard work they have done both locally and nationally working to support Motor Neurone carers and lobbying for the best quality of care for people with the disease.'
The Parliamentary motion calls for a national strategy for Motor Neurone Disease and also supports the implementation of a National Service Framework for long-term neurological conditions.
