Gordon backs Lidl in Brunswick
Gordon has put his full support behind the bid for a new Lidl store in Brunswick
"I’ve supported Lidl’s previous two bids as I am aware that there is an urgent need for this type of development in the Brunswick and Layton area.
The adjustments they have made lead me to believe this application will have no adverse effect on the plans for the Talbot Gateway.
This is a facility which is much needed in a community, especially considering the recent economic meltdown."

Budget supermarket's Blackpool plans
Published Date: 03 October 2008
BUDGET supermarket Lidl has released new plans to change the fortunes of a deprived Blackpool ward.
This is the first look at how the new development could change the face of the Queens Park area of the resort.
Campaigners are behind the plans and are now hoping that planning chiefs will pass the mulit-million pound supermarket at the third attempt.
Bosses at the German-based budget company say they are confident the plans will now meet the approval of town hall chiefs.
Stuart Jardine, development executive for Lidl, said: "Following very positive meetings with senior members of Blackpool Planning Department, a new application has been submitted.
"The new proposal includes a Lidl foodstore, smaller in size than previously planned, an area to be dedicated to Devonshire Primary School for their use, a recycling area for community use, and an area set aside for a veterinary surgery type use.
"The new application has once again received support from Blackpool South MP Gordon Marsden, the local ward councillors and huge backing from the local community and I'm hopeful that on this occasion the application will be welcomed by the planning committee."
The stores two earlier proposals were thrown out by the council who cited traffic fears and plans to transform the area as part of the Talbot Gateway as their reason for rejection.
Residents in Layton claim the introduction of Lidl - which will be on the site of the current Harry Feeney Toyota dealership - at Devonshire Road, would be a vital source of affordable and convenient food shopping.
A consultation period over the new supermarket is due to end next weekend with the plans going to the council on October 27.
If passed, the supermarket would serve more than 5,000 residents in the Brunswick ward area of town.
Harry Feeney will move onto Whitehills Business Park once Lidl have been given the green light.
Mr Marsden said: "I supported Lidl's previous two bids as I am acutely aware that there is an urgent need for this type of development in Layton.
"The adjustments they have made lead me to believe this application will have no adverse effect on the plans for the Talbot Gateway.
"This is a facility which is much needed in a community, especially considering the recent economic meltdown."
