Gordon Backs Anti-Knife Crime Campaign

Gordon joined Home Office Minister David Hanson MP at Highfield Humanities College overseeing a presentation to Year 7 student by members of Lancashire Police and paramedics involved in the Be Sharp Think Sharp campaign, warning of the dangers of knife crime and how it affects local services.

After the presentation Gordon, the Minister and Highfield student went over with the police force, local ambulance service the impact of the presentations and their deterrent effect on Blackpool teenagers on carrying knives.  Blackpool is part of the targeted anti-knife crime strategy hotspots in Lancashire for which £750,000 has been allocated over three years.

‘As someone who has persistently pressed for a greater focus on knife crime and stiffer penalties it was good that David Hanson came to deliver this message of support here in Blackpool.  It’s heartening that students like those at Highfield are now going out to spread the message to their peers.’
