End the uncertainty on Blackpool post office
Today Gordon called for the Royal Mail to end the uncertainty surrounding the future of Blackpool's old main post office.
No new use has yet been found for the historic Grade II listed building on Abingdon Street which has now lain empty for more than a year.
Postal staff vacated the premises in September last year when the central post office was moved to the basement of WH Smith in Bank Hey Street.
Although the sorting office still uses the back of the premises, the main office remains vacant.
Gordon will be writing to the Post Office again and to English Heritage urging them to ensure the building was being properly maintained.
Gordon said: "I've already raised the need with the Post Office and Royal Mail for them to find a proper new use for the building in line with its listed status.
"It's frustrating at this time of regeneration that a prime building in the centre of Blackpool is being left unused."
